We now offer both COVID-19 diagnostic testing and serum antibody testing. The antibody testing will determine if you were previously exposed to the COVID-19 virus and if, therefore, you are likely immune from further infection. Note that the science in this area is still evolving, and there is yet no certainty as to the immunity’s strength in any particular patient, or the length of time the immunity will last. The serum antibody test that we offer is currently the most accurate antibody test available and requires no more than a small blood draw. Results are generally available in 4 to 7 business days.
The COVID-19 diagnostic testing determines whether an active infection is actually present and is done in just a few moments using a nasal swab. Its results, also, are normally back within 4 to 7 business days. If you decide to come in for a diagnostic test and you are currently experiencing symptoms that could indicate a COVID-19 infection (fever, cough, constricted breathing), we would appreciate your adherence to the following procedures in order to protect your, other patients’ and our staff’s health:
- When you arrive at the clinic, park in our lot and call our Front Desk at 727-821-8700 and let them know you have arrived.
- A staff member will come out to your car with registration documents and, if you do not already have one, a mask.
- Stay in your car after registration has been completed and until the staff either contacts you or comes out to get you, at which time you will be taken directly to an exam room.
- Any discharge activities will be concluded while you are still in the exam room, and you will thereupon leave directly to your car.
The costs of these tests are generally covered by Medicare and most commercial health insurance carriers, and we will file claims in that respect on your behalf. Note, though, that we do not participate in Medicaid programs (other than Simply Healthcare) and, accordingly, those patients will not have access to free testing through our facility. We also participate in a federal program that will cover the testing costs for uninsured patients, who will need to show that they do not have individual, employer-sponsored, Medicare or Medicaid coverage in order to qualify.
Both tests are available without an appointment but, to minimize any wait, we do recommend that you take advantage of our “Get in Line Before You Leave the House” feature, below . . .
